I've never gotten totally comfortable wearing my Mustang or any of the other inflatables that I've used on various boats. They're bulky to wear and bulky to store. My Lirakis harness is simple and comfortable to wear. Heck I can sleep with it on. As long as I stay clipped in whenever conditions warrant, I figure I'm not giving up much in safety and gaining a lot in comfort vs the inflatables.
I do need to go to a double-tether, and am trying to decide between retractable or non-retractable. The non-retractable seem less bulky, and it's easy to loop the unused length over your shoulder to get it out of the way. I also want safety clips, but this summer I found the Spinlock double-action clips a bit difficult to operate. May take a look at the Kong tethers at the Annapolis Boat Show.
