St. Vincent itself was always risky. Union Island is known for it's aggressive boat "boys" that practically extort money from boaters.
We are rich. Anyone that does not work 6 out of seven days a week just to survive is rich. We think of our cramped boats as minimalist. If you take a look at the home of the average Caribbean Islander you will see that our boats are luxurious by comparison. That is also true for much of the rest of the world. A lot of people are unhappy with their lot in life and to them we flaunt our wealth.
I certainly do not condone this or any attack. I am only saying we have to be aware of the psychology that causes it. Poverty is the seed of a tremendous amount of violence and terrorism in this world.
