Al, I agree with you on the points that you listed.

Although there is not a lot of room on the cars for large numbers, it would be nice if they could do something like the balloon idea. And yes, these 2.8 second pit stops are pretty quick. They could do a better job of showing these in Slow Motion. Much of the F1 TV is almost scripted. For example, when you watch each of the races, they will have the obligatory TV shot of a couple of the girl friends of the drivers. THey never have any hearing protection on, because if would not look good with their hair. THey always have 10 to 15 Radio Segments, where they show the Team Radio icon, and then you cant make out the garbled transmission of the driver talking to his crew.

What is really getting better is the In Car Camera shots - very steady video. These cars, besides having incredible corning capabilities, they have very very good brakes. On the long straight where they are going over 300 km, they are able to brake in a few hundred feet to 100km or less. Not only does the G forces (3 or more) effect the driver in the corners, but with braking as well.

Back the tire change - F1 is using a pit crew that is larger than the NASCAR crews. And since they do not refuel the F1 Cars, if all they are doing is a tire change, 3 seconds is about the time. If changing the front wing, goes up to maybe 10 or more. Still faster than most NASCAR pit stops.

Yes, not a lot of leg room in the F1 Cars.
