Sensual pollution.

The places where we live and work don't blend well with the things of nature. Our creations on land seem to drive away most natural things except man and house sparrows. When we travel by water, we leave no footprints and need no paved roads. The things we see close to us are either natural or other boats - which offer a varying degree of 'visual pollution'.
By nature, we are sensitive to the things around us - the things we see, smell, hear, taste, and touch. I think we're more comfortable when all these sensations are close to natural sensations. Traffic noise, light pollution, industrial smells, the touch of plastic - they all grate on us to some degree. It's not natural to be sharing these thoughts by internet - much more comfortable would be face to face with a glass of wine (or should that be a pottery goblet?).
