Maren's dawn comes two hours before mine.

Gives her a couple of quiet hours before I rouse.. But then she crashes about two hours before me. She gets some great dawn photos. I've got no 'dark of the night' photos to compare.
I suspect that hikers feel the same way about their 'nature' (but I don't know first hand). But I can't imagine backpacking all the 'stuff' that the boat carries. I imagine I could do similar to boating with an RV, but it would be a matter of finding a 'natural' campsite - which seem to be few and far between. Most local campsites are more like a used RV lot set up in a Walmart parking lot - I fail to see the attraction. They advertise hot showers and running water - which we're happy without. Sunshower still suits us, and stepping on the pedal to get water works fine.
Looking out the hatch to see a deer looking at me from 10' away (Hadley Harbor) gives me a good feeling. Then there was the dolphin SW of Block at 4am (during a race) - we heard him blow and smelled the fishy breath a bit before we saw him 6' off our quarter. Then the day heading E from Block - we were on the wind S of Fishers Isl when we hit something, heard it bumping along under the boat. As it came into sight astern, it was a 12' shark. I could go on, but this is long enough.
