I started looking at the "run dry" impeller on our Yanmar 2GM20F. After removing my old original (appx 2001) plate I found it has groves warn in it and had some areas that seem to have been eroded from our long storage during our problems.

I first thought I would mill the plate flat. It IS very beefy. I then decided to check out the cost of a new one. It seems the price has not gone up as I thought it might have. I then saw the new Speed seal life, ( http://www.speedseal.com/SpeedsealLife/SpeedsealLife.html ).

I think I have now read a number of reviews (to big to post a copy here) and they look good. So I just ordered one.

A friend of mine has been warning me to remove the impeller and replace it each year or if I was storing the boat for a time. I think I WILL do that from now on!
