Mostly useful for turbo engines
In Response To: Diesel exhaust temperature ()
As David said, a normally aspirated engine wouldn't normaly benefit from an exhaust temperature gauge. It is useful for telling you the condition of the turbo. Blown turbo seals cause exhaust temps to rise.
