Do you have a controllable pitch prop? 
In Response To: Diesel exhaust temperature ()
Camper & Nicholsons installed a few on Nicholson 58s when I was there. I believe the idea was you pick your rpm, then adjust pitch until you get the exhaust gas temperature you're looking for. Or vice versa . . . I guess it's installed in the gas part -- before the water gets injected.
