Listening to NOAA weather on the VHF while on the boat is one of those things that trigger your (or at least mine) mental frame of mind to being nautical. When I first get on the boat I check the engine and bilge, Turn on every one of the instruments to make sure they work, Start the wind & diesel generator and 'Listen to NOAA weather'.

Now I'm on the boat.

Sure I do weather research on the net but it's not the same. Listening to the entire program of weather conditions waiting for your area forces you to get to know that's going on out there in a different way. Have to admit that I also download the text version on the computer.
