Seems like Redford (as the boat owner) could have done several things in a different manner to alleviate some of his problems...
I think the first thing I would have done is stuff a big cushion into that gaping hole before the water got too deep.
Seems like his cabinets needed some form of closures.
And changing sails in the middle of the storm is just asking for trouble. And lifejacket anyone before stepping up into the raft...
