it was that kind of a weekend.
I think I already know the answer to this one, but I'll ask anyhow. Hot water tank. Last Fall I winterized it by removing the pressure side in/out lines, draining the tank with the petcock. The heat exchanger lines from the engine are left connected as the engine is FWC and full of nice clean antifreeze. The bottom edge of the tank had some rust which I attributed to the fact that the pressure lines had no hose clamps and leaked. Fast forward to this weekend, I was running the instrument cable from the chartplotter to the VHF and see a puddle surrounding the tank that had a pale greenish color. Only one thing on the boat that is green, engine coolant. I checked the coolant tank and sure enough, it is low. I assume that means the heat exchanger inside the tank has corroded through as has the tank itself?
Read and re-read the chartplotter and VHF manuals before making the connections. Cable is run, connections have been made. However, this is by no means a plug-and-play scenario. The explanation of who is talking and who is listening put things in perspective (thanks everyone), however both the chartplotter and VHF need to be programmed in order to do such a thing. So far, no luck. The VHF seems to understand there is something out there but the chartplotter data is not reading. I need to have much more patience and time to make this work. Garmin also tells me I need to connect the chartplotter to my laptop and download some new map info......sigh........modern technology.
Third and fourth coat of Cetol Clear Marine Gloss is on the handrails and cockpit teak. Cover should be off in two weeks so the toe rail can get the same treatment.
Jimmy plays just fine on the new CD player/stereo system, the remote control works from the cockpit!
