And if we took 2014 safety communication gear and put it on all the boats that were at sea 100 years ago, the Epirb boards would light up like a Christmas tree. We were wrecking boats on Cape Cod-alone, at the rate of 1 every two weeks back then!
Seriously, I have to agree with the idea that near total real time of any accident is now in everyone's 'device' they're holding. That's a fairly recent fact that I would argue supports what looks like an increase in 'accidents' at sea.
I'd argue that we have more rescues today, than 10 years ago(for above). But, we have a smaller percentage of 'lost at sea' casualties, today. I think that's a very good trend.
