I have a 4" duct directed at the large alternator....

and also a similar area exit duct that is connected to a radial blower. Both are ducted up into the coaming box near the highest part of the boat. The engine compartment is sealed pretty well from the rest of the boat otherwise. While the engine is running, the engine compartment only gets maybe 5 or 10 degrees above ambient. After shut down, the hot block heats up the compartment to pretty warm, maybe 30 degrees above ambient for a little while. Turning on the blower lowers that immediately, but I rarely turn it on. The compartment is under the cockpit so the heat isn't apparent from the cabin - otherwise I might run the blower more.
