There is supposed to be about 1 foot either side for each mooring so nominally 2 feet between boats. You can usually just sneak by the mooring float but often it brushes down the side of the hull on the way in. When I used this kind of mooring I had a loop in the messenger that I could tie the stern lines to and that was located so I could pick it up and throw it over the primary winch on the way in and it would stop the boat just short of the wall. This was handy for single handing and I would walk up and grab the bow lines.
We do allow power boats but there aren't many. There used to be only a couple in the harbour, probably about 10 of them now. Its' the same at the other two big clubs near by. We just don't have many power boats around here but there will be about 100 ~ 150 sail boats out on the bay on a nice summer weekend.
