When drilling and tapping for machine screws into an aluminum mast is a coarse or fine thread stronger.

Max Fletcher is almost to the Azores and has a problem with his gooseneck. His 1/4 inch bolts are pulling out and he needs to go up a size - in this case probably to 8mm since he will be in the land of metrics.

I have always thought that courser threads were stronger. Opinions?
