My new main, how do you slow it down?

I was more impressed on my first sail than I expected. A quick sail to Pulpit Harbor and back. Boat speed on a reach was up. 9 to 11 knots of wind had the boat going faster than usual.

I was surprised how easily the full battened loose footed sail(both firsts for me) had the telltales flowing nicely regardless of perfect trim. Once inside, I zig-zagged the harbor under main alone. Much faster on main alone and the boat was pointing much higher making it very maneuverable.

You can see a full battened main luffing, I don't know why I read overwise. And it seems easier to shape than I expected. The battens are quite limber.

I had to harden up to make my harbor on the beat back. I think the main was mishaped a bit. I hadn't played with the foot tension. I can see I'll need to do make foot adjustments more often. But she cleared the shoals and in.

Lot's of adjustments to the lazy jacks. Nice to have the sail stay above decks when dropped. But it's like metal roofing to flake which was no fun in the hot southwesterly and blazing sun. Good shake down.
