My Murphy's law moment

I've had FRIHET Hauled for the last few weeks to do the bottom, inspect the mast and do a DIY installation of a new Furlex 50s jib furler. Weather has been brutally hot, with thunderstorms, wife has had a series of medical emergencies, but despite all that I completed the work Friday and splashed yesterday. I had read and re-read Selden's installation manual, measured and re-measured with metric rulers, checked and re checked the work, all in the blazing sun. I cut, fit, cut 7x19 wire, installed the STALOC and did all the hard parts with immense care. When we motored down river to the Marina I was proud of doing a tedious, difficult job under crappy conditions---until I got home and downloaded some photos of the furler to the computer. I noticed then that I had slid the halyard swivel down the foil extrusion (probably the easiest step in the project) UPSIDE DOWN.

Now as my anger and frustration slowly simmers down to resignation, I'm faced with hiring a Rigger (At 75, I don't go aloft anymore) to correct it. A Delta Sierra moment for the ages. Oh, well.
