You were probably hot, obviously concentrating on stuff, distracted a bit by other situations and missed what really amounts to a very minor thing....maybe not so easily fixed, but in the grand scheme, still a minor thing.
When we stepped the mast on the Islander for the first time I was trying to keep the marine eyes in the mast by keeping the shrouds tight, watching the crane cable and the newly rebuilt wind instruments, directing the crew of helpers from the club and ticking the stuff off the list in my head. I was very pleased with myself when I was back in the slip, tuned the rig and was ready to bend on the sails. It was only at that time that I realized I had installed the furler 180* off, the opening in the Harken drum was facing forward, not aft.....sigh.
