That's why I book marked that article when I read it. I bought a new Raymarine autopilot right before heading off to Panama and the South Pacific for the second time (2006). First the control head failed and it took them a month and a lot of phone calls to get it repaired and returned. Then the course computer failed and that took two weeks to get back. I will never buy Raymarine again.

Good thing I wired it so that I could switch back to my ancient Autohelm 6000 (circa 1985). IMO autopilot and GPS are the only critical pieces of electronics on a boat.
