winter projects

Our old boat does not require a huge amount of work this off season. My first challenge is, for the first time ever in 35 years, haul and store a boat with the mast up. This is part of my "make life more simple" plan. Pulling and stepping a mast has always been a PITA. Trying to get a crew together twice a year, the actual work, etc and so forth. I will need to adapt my winter cover frame and finally shrink wrap. My first project is to remove and replace the cove stripe before covering. The varnish needs an annual maintenance coat, I started using clear Cetol which I really like. I'm also going to replace that pesky main AC breaker. Once the cover is on I plan to re-stitch the dodger, although the Sunbrella is fine the thread is giving out in places. I'm also going to leave the batteries on the boat for the first time ever. I figure that will give a good excuse to go down to the club and plug in the boat every few weeks. If I feel like I really need a project I can put another coat of teak oil on everything down below......under a winter cover that end giving me quite the headache after a few hours.
