It is a somewhat stiff plastic tube...
In Response To: Question ()

That comes in sections. My bilge is about 3' deep from the sole floor, and I use two sections of the tube to easily reach the bottom of the bilge. Three sections of tube are supplied. The tube is not terribly flexible... think of a long large diameter soda straw as an example.

You may have to rig some other sort of non-collapsible "straw" to fit into one of the other sections. I bet it could be done using a lab style rubber cork and a thick walled plastic tube such as the variety sold at Home Depot. In fact the stuff usually sold for ice maker feed lines seems to be about the right diameter and stiffness. (you don't want something that could collapse in a vacuum... so it has to be somewhat stiff walled tubing)

The original "straw" is somewhat thin to allow it to go down the narrow hole of the oil dipstick. It is stiff enough that I can push it into the dipstick hole and "feel" the bottom, in the engine.
