I had a fuel issue last year when the dinghy stopped about a half mile from anywhere, with a 1/3-full tank. I noticed that the fuel had become foggy in the site glass (the filter installed in my fuel line has a glass outer tube). I assumed it was phase separation, so I bought fresh fuel and drained the lines and carb bowl, and got it running again. That was inconvenient, and might have been dangerous if the motor failed in the wrong time/place in strong winds/currents. Inflatables don't row well.
