Too bad the anchorage isn't more protected. But there's always room to anchor and rental moorings are plentiful, even free dockage for an hour or two is available, especially on the shoulder season.
The dinghy dock is right in the heart of the downtown. It's about 200 yards to French and Brawn, and old style grocery store with a butcher, fishmonger, fresh produce, bakery, delicatessan, wine shop, all in one. You don't need a car(a liability in Camden). A kid will roll your shopping cart to the dinghy dock(all down hill), and take the cart back. Or just carry your own bags down. Belfast is a good one too.
I so well remember schlepping provisions to our boat on the ICW. Too much of it is in a food desert. When you find a convenient to your dinghy, grocery store, it's a diamond in the rough.
I missed the store in Gloucester. I can't think of a single handy grocery store that I've been to down in the Cape Cod area. But I would say the store on Cuttyhunk, despite the typical island-store limitations is one of the best in the area. We crave fresh food which they often have(watch the mailboat...)
