Each forum has a personality. We have the 'old salts-enter at your own risk', moniker on Phils Sailboatowners home page.
But it looks like we're sort of archived.
I check Sailboat owners regularly. I like Mainesails forum, used to check in on Roger Long, and occasionally Ask All Sailors has an interesting subject. But I just don't get hooked there.
So it goes with Cruising Anarchy. More about boats and personalities than sailing. I posted there for a spell a few years back but the subject matter doesn't hold my interest.
Woodenboat has content I like but mostly as a winter diversion. There are a few sailors over there but the bulk are more into working on boats. It gets a good international audience though.
Sailnet is an enormous group but still a few faces are what drive it, I think. I have found some common love of sailing there.
All of the above do add interesting subject occasionally-if you know the systems to make it quick! Videos, travel, new coastlines, boat design, etc.
I think I've seen more people leave the CSBB in the last 10 years than have come in from outside. It's pretty rare to 'see' a new face here. I think we miss out there.
The old faces are great and unique and interesting(everything Greg says), so that makes it more than worth being a regular here.
It's good to have you here, Mary Lou.
