Hi all! We are getting pricing on redoing s/v Winterlude's 16 year old awlgrip hull sides. The Marathon Boat Yard says they don't use awlgrip any more because newer paints are much better -- not sure better for what since our 16 year old awlgrip is still extremely shiny, but time has taken it's toll with Hurricane Charley & ulu/cayuco scratches.
Anyway, they mentioned using an Interlux product. I know Jon Eisburg used Alex Seal a few years ago. I'm interested in the current thinking of the group - would you insist on awl grip or experiment with one of the other paints? It's not a cheap experiment.
We're looking for shiny and longevity above anything else.
THANKS & Happy New Year!
Jan
