with no battery, and no charger.... oh no, Mr. Makita won't have a triple with me!
I've bought thousands of dollars of Makita tools over the decades for building. Their tools deliver great value. Some have lasted decades and are still going while other brands fell apart in a few years of heavy use. Hand saws, miter saws, sawzalls, they usually survive 2 story drops with ease, weather, brutal abuse, and keep working, hour after hour.
But cordless tools are a different animal. They're great and we use the drills continuously. But unlike corded tools, the batteries in heavy use, need replacing quite regularly if you want high performance. And the models change rapidly so batteries become obsolete, then the tools. Plus they're often lightly built in comparison to their corded versions.
I've probably bought close to a dozen cordless drills(no other cordless tools would work on a construction site for me) in the last 20 years, that's how long they last. In comparison, I have a Makita corded 1/2" drill I bought 30 years ago-that I put one set of new brushes in-that is still going strong!
