If the 'substrate' of the Pergo is solid wood laminates then it's not "so" bad. But if it's a compressed fiber or particle board type then definitely NOT suitable as the slightest water on it and no cleaned up immeditately and it will swell and to all intents and porpoises be ruined.

I'd vote against it preferring a more traditional or commonly used material that is proven for the application.
