The top surface of Pergo is very tough - cutting it on my table saw makes sparks!
Poor water resistance. The substrate is not water resistant and swells with water exposure. Areas where I've installed it that have been wet mopped definitely show raised areas at the seams. It not only swells but doesn't recover. Would NOT use it for flooring on a boat.
How about something like the 'Allure' panels from Home Depot? I've put down quite a bit of this stuff and like it. For home use it's installed 'floating' - ie: bonded to itself but not to the substrate. Water resistance doesn't seem to be an issue. For marine use, I think I'd use an adhesive to hold it in place.
