The docks in our harbor cover a good amount of area in storage. And they're stacked 3, 4 maybe 5 high. They are designed for removal with easy connections - electrical- pump out, and the hardware that keeps them attached to the pilings they ride up and down, 10 or more feet- twice a day.

Plus long ramps, it's quite an operation. The town takes care of most of them and with a crane, they spend a couple days, and use a crew of at least 4, including a boat operator for towing. Then they all get shrink wrapped as they are state of the art and a big investment. It's good when the public owns the water access.

The commercial boatyard, which pulls their own docks with the travelift, runs bubblers around each set of dolphins(3 large pilings sunk and cabled together), to protect the pilings from any ice heaving damage.
