Cable is feeling the crunch but wired broadband is more consistent and stable than wireless, and arguably more secure (though that's not a slam dunk). Cablevision in Metro New York has put wireless on the poles almost completely throughout its coverage area, and it's "free" to subscribers of their home or business wired service. Because of bundling, if you drop your phone and/or TV -- your Internet-only price goes way up. That's the only reason I still have a landline -- it's basically no extra charge.
