To actually call this place a chandlery is being generous, but they did sell boat parts, do repairs and storage. In the paper this morning it turns out the property was leased from the Port Authority which I guess has been trying to peddle it for some time along with one of the oldest (long since defunct) boat builders.
The last chandlery here is going to become a new restaurant, the old McAllister Boat Works is to be torn down and replaced by townhomes, with parking of course. The brain trust here feels the best plan for the bayfront area is $789,000 townhomes.
