Dad punched out early - MI at age 63. Didn't even get to enjoy his retirement or watch his grandchildren develop.
Mom remarried and had 25 good years with #2 - he drove a tank for Patton and did something with the Lippanzers (he was a farm boy) after close of hostilities. Mom's body wore out at age 88 - one blessing was than she was able to make her own care decisions right up to the end. I'm thankful I didn't have to make the yes/no choice on the feeding tube. When Mom passed, he basically gave up on life - didn't last 6 months. Miss them all..
