That tire had

good pressure in the storage yard for a week before we departed. I checked the pressure each AM. On the day it gave out the PSI was good in the AM, then about 15 ~ 20 PSI low at the fuel stop about 100 miles down the road. I added back the air to 55 PSI. It gave out before we made it to the next fuel stop, and at that time the breaks were all working just fine. At least I could not see any heat buildup when I changed out the tire.

The tires are NOT re-treds and are new-ish. They are ST225/75R15, Load range D. They are 5 plies, 2 polyester, 2 steel cords and 1 nylon cord, and are now a mixed set of dates. Oldest one I see was "born on" week 37 of 2010, next one, week 04 of 2011, then newer by a lot. Can't dig out the one that gave out as it's under a batch of stuff in truck.

I DO agree, it sure did LOOK like the same way a re-tread spins off. Once we get back to our shore side place I plan to do a bit more digging to try to figure out what took place. I have another tire to put on the rim, but not with me.
