Ordered a Suzuki 2.5 today

I decided it was time for a lighter weight dinghy motor, so after shopping on the Internet I decided on the Suzuki 2.5 because it is lighter than others. The Honda 2.3 has the centrifugal clutch, which might become a problem, and it is noisier than most. The Torqeedo is attractive but pricy, and amps are precious when we go cruising for weeks at a time. No such thing as a quick fill up unless you carry a spare $650 battery, and hire a uniformed guard when you leave it at a dinghy dock. Other gasoline outboards are much heavier.

I also considered the Lehr, but in reviews people are either very happy or they have had problems with them. I get the impression the Lehr quality is inconsistent. Like the idea of using propane because of all the fuel problems using ethanol. I'm going to try to stick with alcohol-free fuel from the local Airport, for all my outboard engines and tools. Been using it for the snow thrower this winter and I'm very pleased with the way it runs. I'll try to bring enough for my trips but if I need to buy fuel at a marina I seek out ValvTect dealers. Of course , I continue to drain the carb if expecting the engine to sit idle more than a week.
