In 1971 I was a junior at Washington State University in eastern Washington. A roommate I had when I was a freshman was a member of a college service club that had a conference in Seattle. A group of 7 students, including the guy I knew, went out for an evening sail from Tacoma on a 22 foot boat that belonged to one of the club members whose family lived in the Tacoma area. The boat and everyone disappeared without a trace. Seven on a 22 footer sounds like an overload. There was an intense search but nothing was ever found.
