Having just returned from a transatlantic where both my solar panel connections and my water powered generator connections flamed out with corrosion, I am searching for a genuine marine ocean-proof electrical connection.
Don't point me to those sea dog connections with tiny brass set screws that can't handle the wire gauges necessary for a power application, and fall apart.
I thought I found a solution with a Hella connector with a screw-in cap that was supposedly IP67 waterproof and rated at 16 amps. But that one developed a salt-bridge short and burned up on me off of Guadeloupe. Also, it relies on those nasty little set screws that never seem to hold for long.
I guess I am looking for something rated for underwater use with large gauge crimp-connectors.
Any ideas?
