I don't know much about this, Doug.

It just sounds like the politics are split in Rockland. The council is in a fiscal lock down. The harbor master is looking out for local boaters, fishermen, schooner operators, etc. If our local select board in Rockport announced a 100% rate increase for mooring fees, there would be a revolt! We'd the skin the alive(we sort of do that at the local meetings )

But it happens in small town(and small city politics). One of two in local go'ment can change the tide on a whim. Then it takes time to get the idiots out of office. But it will be done and the damage, hopefully will be slight.

What the hell do the councilmen think people are coming to Rockland for, as tourists, as business owners, Home Depot? With Rockland on a real upswing these days, it's time to recognize the value of one of the greatest harbor assets on Penobscot Bay.

MBH&H show will be unaffected as will anything else. Overnight mooring fees are set by the business that rent them.

On the bright side, there is a serious move on in Rockland to make some changes on the industrial neck in the harbor. This political battle may all be part of that transition, but I'm only guessing.
