Except for Southwest Harbor (12.86 mils). Mount Desert is the lowest at about 7 mils. Tremont (Bass Harbor) is in the middle at about 9 mils. The low mil rates certainly are due to our high property values. You can buy an entire city block of homes in the County or what a typical home costs here. It also reflects services. For example where I livewe have a volunteer fire department and no police. Nearly 90% of our town budget goes for schools. We also don't have typical municipal services like garbage collection, city water or sewer or much of anything else.
