Who would sail 10 miles to eat a chicken sandwich? The time and effort it takes me to get my boat prepared to sail, and then put it 'away' again, has to be worth my while.
Sunny skies, NOAA showing 4 knots SE(I estimate I had 6-7kts), and my Saturday afternoon is free. That's enough to lure just me, and a sandwich, out.
Windward was my plan but I was quickly reminded how cold windward can be, in June. Cracking off onto a reach warms things up in the cockpit.
10 miles on starboard to Pulpit Harbor @ 6-6.5knts means a late lunch. Tacking into the harbor works up an appetite(I am rusty and out of 'sailing shape', I find).
The sandwich I was sent with, was excellent, as always. It's good to sit in the sun, on the water.
Crank the main back up and away we go; a 10 mile port tack home. Very good speed, plenty of lift to clear the harbor and back on the mooring by 4. No hurry. I'm tired and recharged all at once.
2 inches of rain fall the next day and it is good to be home. June weather.
