The Alden Mistral is a '62 design, 36' with a 26' waterline, and no lightweight. And if they had a crew of 6, that's a good sized load with a weeks provisions.

Full keel, attached rudder, I was impressed by their speed during most of the race.

And their strategy looked like it kept them right on the rhumb line as others hunted in both directions. Their corrected time looks like the winner to me, by a long shot!
