We've only done our primary's once in 12 years

Did the winches on the mast 3 times. The primaries and others are always either under a cover or under the dodger. When we took them apart (the only time) we took every part off, cleaned immaculately, re-chromed the drum, black anodized the self tailer essentially making them like new. The ones exposed o weather constantly needed attention.

Those 1980 Barients IMHO are still the best winches. It's unfortunate that Lewmar purchased Baronet for the self tailer patent and threw the rest away. The Lewmar winches are junk, again, IMHO.
