It's amazing you can get a shot like this with an 'old' iPhone in your pocket today, and still see gorgeous finishes applied with ancient brushes, including the lettering on the stern.

- Wow! They painted ot outside?
  - Air borne particles; bugs, leaves, dust, sand. All possible, but this is a small investment.
    - Actually there is a fair amount of labor in painting a wooden boat
      - This ones only been out a few days and only got one topcoat. Must have been in good shape?

        Well, what I refer to was for applying to painted surfaces, not bare surfaces.
