CC National Seashore had a major problem when the parking lots were sand/gravel. Any parked car was a target for a bird trying to open a clam - take the clam up a ways and let it go. A hit from high enough would crack the clam - and also do a job on the vehicle.
Problem went away after paving the parking areas.
