Well, not really the technology itself, but the lifestyle of today's connected upper-earners who are working round the clock. If they own a business they may be aggressive hands-on entrepreneurs, and if they don't fall into the business owner category they be working for aggressive hands-on entrepreneurs or managers in public companies that "own" the ambitious career-oriented worker's loyalty/time.
Bottom line -- people have limited time on the water and power boats meld much better with schedules than sailboats.
Yes price is always a factor, and new vs. used hasn't changed, but there will always be a privileged class which may shrink or grow in the usual economic cycles.
