I read a couple of chapters last night up until Calypso arrives at Ocracoke. This book is quite a treat as the early chapters at least are set in an area where I live- Oriental, NC. Captain Ratty's, M&M's Café, the Jolly Roger, even the "stacks" are all familiar places. And it is an interesting concept: fiction told first person by the author based on 95% true personal experiences.

But did you really once enter Ocracoke's Big Foot Slough channel in similar conditions? Wow!!!
