when the Ocracoke channel incident actually occurred, it was so bad that after seven hours we were still six miles out. We had forty on the nose and a six foot chop. There were six boats in our group and we actually turned back even though we were eighty percent of the way there. We were down to about a knot to the good each our and didn't want to go another six hours. We were back in Paradise Cove (Lower Broad Creek) where we left from seven hours before, in two and half hours. It was the only trip I ever remember where we didn't get to our destination.
