I run at 6 knots on about 0.45 gal/hr. Typical cruising rpms are 1550.

Engine spinning faster and consuming less fuel is counterintuitive, isn't it?
Power required to move the boat is determined largely by speed, displacement and waterline length...
Spinning more quickly without load, yes...
