Doug, I always start my trip up the river at least an hour after published low for Bucksport. There is a lot of water coming down stream and it takes an hour sometimes 2, for the tidal inflow to overcome that downstream flow.

On our trip upstream last year we had 7.5-8 knts SOG at some points.
