First is wire size fore the length...However good luck fitting that wire in the pittable space on the windlass. I made my living for 40 years as an electrician and as with many motor instalations in industry I ran oversized wire (3% voltage drop from the breaker to the solinoid then smaller for the short run to the windlass. I tried full size I think it was 2/0 to the windlass but there just was not room for 2/0 at the windlass connection. I used a 120 amp blue seas breaker near the house batteries and it has never tripped. I almost always have the engine with a dual alternator running when the windlass is in use. We have a 55# rocna with 220' of 5/16 chain.
