Perhaps the owner should have had his lawyer read the town regulation of St. George which includes Tenants Harbor....

"It shall be unlawful for any person or watercraft to use any mooring not
permitted by the Town of Saint George."

Key words there; UNLAWFUL, ANY PERSON or WATERCRAFT, ANY MOORING NOT PERMITTED

Seems the owner of the boat should have done some checking with the town before leaving his boat on a non-permitted mooring.... The CAPTAIN is responsible for the vessel...

We rented a house in Milbridge, ME about 12 years ago and it too had a mooring. I chose not to use it and instead we anchored in front of the house for the week we were there... I trusted my gear more than the owners...
